Kenneth Cope

Kenneth Cope

Kenneth Cope was born June 12, 1961 in Salt Lake City as the third of six children. He grew up in Houston, Texas, and attended the High School for the Performing Arts before leaving for Switzerland and France to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He began his singing/songwriting career by recording the 1986 Especially For Youth (EFY) theme song and went on to compose numerous songs for seven albums produced for the EFY Program.

His first solo album, Heaven—Don’t Miss It For The World (released in 1988), was created out of this desire to make music to help strengthen the youth of the Church. Then came Greater Than Us All (1989), with the songs “His Hands” and “Never a Better Hero.” In 1991, he released another contemporary album titled Voices, with the song “Face to Face.” Then came the theme-based projects: My Servant Joseph (1993) and Women at the Well (1995). These were followed by Stories from Eden’s Garden (1998), A Prayer unto Thee (1999), Joseph Smith—the Seer (2000), and Hear My Praise (2002). In 2005, the record company released Face to Face—Kenneth Cope Collection. His most recent full album was born in 2008, titled All About You. And in 2012, he created three new contemporary inspirational songs for the youth of the Church to go along with that year’s youth theme. The EP was called Rise and Shine.

Kennth is currently creating a musical for the stage about the life of Christ, titled Son of Man.

Kenneth Cope is available from Deseret Book.

Thoughts from Kenneth

I decided a long time ago that I was going to devote my energy and my talents to making the name of Jesus Christ greater on the earth. It propels every choice, every decision. I hope to create new ways for people to see Jesus Christ – to offer a new vantage point and open eyes. To show how He is in everything, because really, it is all about Him. I strongly believe that if we are doing with our lives those things God wants us to do, He will open the way for us to continue in our path and consistently bring about more good.
